Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

A late bloomer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) did not begin composing until the age of 5. (Just think of all the music we missed out on.) Mozart’s compositions are the best example of the classical era. They were structured, elegant, simple, beautiful, and amazing. Even more amazing is how he composed them. Most manuscripts left by other titans of music are full of cross-outs and eraser marks. Not Mozart’s. He composed in his head and put pen to paper only after a piece had been completed – in his head. Some people thought his abilities were a gift from God. Others thought they were from a deal made with the Devil. Today some wonder if he had savant syndrome. None of these ridiculous theories are true. He was actually an alien.*
